This novel is the second installment of Ashley's best selling series. The following is an excerpt from Dead Escape.

"It was Ashley's sophomore year in high school and she was on her way to Detroit, Michigan to visit family, as well as her boyfriend around late September. Upon arriving at her boyfriend’s house on a dark fall night, Ashley was told that she was going to go with five of the friends to a haunted house. She had never stepped foot into one, nor did she ever necessarily want to. She knew that if she were to go, she would not be able to determine when someone may come up from behind and scare her, or more importantly what would lie inside the house. Although, she didn’t want to turn down her friends or seem like a “scaredy-cat”, so she decided she would go to the haunted house.
Little did Ashley know, the haunted house was located along the shadiest location in Detroit possible—8 mile road. This area is known in Michigan as trailer parks and not necessarily the safest area to go to visit. As Ashley and her friends arrived at the haunted house—that she soon realized was actually a warehouse—she immediately started shaking. She was afraid for not only the scare aspect, but also the uncertainty if the haunt was actually safe! Ashley then walked up to the ticket booth and paid to experience the one thing she hated the most.
The line for the house stretched around the entire building, and Ashley and her friends took their place. As they stood in line, she began to examine her ticket and did not like what she read. The name of the haunt was called “Deadly Intentions: City of The Living Dead,” in other words…zombies. As soon as she finished reading, she gave her boyfriend the most “deadly” stare possible. He laughed, hugged her, and promised he would be at her side the entire time.
The line progressed and just as they neared the entrance, zombies emerged from behind the building. These “scareactors” had their faces deformed, some even had their mouth and jaw cut open and came to taunt the awaiting visitors.  Ashley tried to look away as one with a mask began to approach her in line. She was uncomfortable being unable to see his face, as he kept getting closer to her with his large knife in hand. Fortunately for Ashley, the zombie eventually walked away, though unfortunately she was next in line to go into the haunt. As she questioned the guard at the door if she would get separated from anyone, her boyfriend and friends planned out the groups to go in. She heard her boyfriend’s voice behind her saying to start walking, so she did just that. Although, as she turned around to see where her friends were, she was only with him. Her boyfriend had planned that just the two of them would go through; the friends would follow in their own group.
A man ran towards them in the dark hall of the warehouse screaming “RUN AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN! DON’T GO IN THERE! I JUST SAW A MAN EAT OFF MY FRIENDS ARM!” Of course Ashley would have gladly complied with the man’s words of fair warning, but her boyfriend insisted otherwise.  Ashley held tightly to her boyfriend, keeping her head and eyes focused on the ground. As they reached a room filled with strobe lights, they were unable to see where to go next. In that moment, a zombie, started taunting her boyfriend. Her boyfriend then proceeded to ask the zombie where to go. Obviously, the zombie was not of much help and answered with “GO WHEREEVER YOU WANT TO GO...” Ashley’s boyfriend then found a small gap in the wall to squeeze through, as he did this he said, “Ashley, you are going to have to let go of me so we can get through!” She then let go of him, and followed him through the gap.  The zombie “scareactor,” then began calling Ashley’s name and followed them through the next couple rooms.

As Ashley continued to scream, cry, and shake uncontrollably, zombies got up in her face claiming to smell “flesh.” Ashley, too afraid to look, ran into dead bodies hanging from the ceiling and nearly tripping on items, and ran into a wall or two. Then, Ashley and her boyfriend reached a long dark hallway again, when they began to hear a sound of a small motor and metal clashing on the ground. A man with a chainsaw had followed them. They ran as fast as they could out of the hallway and to the end of the maze, escaping the chainsaw.
They both let out a sigh of a relief that it was all over. A few minutes later, the rest of their friends came running out of that same hallway. Once they were all reunited, someone had the idea to go through the house again. Needless to say, Ashley decided to stay back and keep the car warm until they returned."
