​A Student of Miami University

"I came to Miami University without fulling knowing what "the college experience" would be. My parents either attended some college or just went straight into work after high school. I was curious as to what college would mean and wanted the best experience possible. My junior year of high school I went on an extensive amount of college visits, did countless research online and a lot of reflection before applying to schools. My  years of schooling, until now, had been private catholic education. Taking the step into a public institution was an inner debate. When it came to application time one could say I was indecisive, applying to 11 schools. It sounds like a bit much, but I wanted to keep my options open. Once the acceptance, and sadly denial letters came in, I had to make my choice.

I am happy to say I chose Miami University to become a class of 2016 redhawk. These past 3 years have flown by.  Every time I return to my hometown my family notices a difference in my growth as into an adult. My classes have taught me many useful skills for my future, and shown me the different paths I can take. I feel that I have become more independent, well spoken as well as open minded from my time here at Miami.  I am extremely thankful for my opportunity to live and learn here!"    -Ashley Hopes
